You had a long day, you thought as you recounted while pouring yourself a glass of wine. It was now evening and the sun was setting in all it's vermilion splendor. You had a flat tire on the way to work this morning and then when you finally arrived, there were tasks left on your desk to complete because one of your coworkers abruptly quit and their burden fell onto your shoulders. You don't know how you got through it, but you did. Now you were at home, in your sanctuary. All you wanted to do was to decompress and relax the night away. Thankfully it was also a Friday, so you had the whole weekend to do that. You sat down on your sofa, snug under your leopard print blanket, turned on a candle that has an intoxicating scent, the glass container was handmade in Murano.
You sipped on your wine while watching a sad film which brought you to cleansing tears. While you sat there, the setting sun washed you with golden pink light until the sky turned into indigo velvet with vibrant diamonds strewn across it. A thin crescent moon reminiscent of selenite hung just above the mountains in the distance. At least that's what it looked like to your eyes. Before you knew it, the ambient lighting in your space turned off. It was set to go off in the middle of the night. Now it was around 2:37 am and you thought you should probably go to bed or else you'll feel extra tired in the morning and then the day will go to waste. After doing your nightly routine, you got under the covers of your bed. You loved your bed, it felt like a cloud. After a while you fell into a deep sleep. You began to dream. You were hiking in the nearby mountains at dusk. You found a grouping of rocks that were placed in a formation on the ground. It resembled a maze. You then noticed a shadow figure on the other side of the rock formation. As you approached the center of the maze, the shadow figure did as well. In that moment you felt the gravity give way and now you were both floating. The rock formations morphed into a vortex of light. That's when you noticed his face. You also realized that you were holding hands. You met his gaze and he met yours. In that moment he cracked a smile, you smiled back and then that's when you woke up.
The golden sunlight was dappling onto your bed and floor. Birds were chirping and puffy clouds were hanging on a backdrop of deep blue. It had rained last night and this morning the air was crisp and clean. You opened a window to let in the fresh air. Your house overlooked a field of sunflowers.
The coast was just beyond that. You took a deep breath and felt grateful for the things you have. You thought again about the day you had yesterday and didn't let it get to you. You figured it was a part of life and it wasn't personal. You went on to have your coffee while you had a breakfast of a cream cheese bagel that had a subtle dusting of dill and topped with smoked salmon. You planned to go walk around town and possibly treat yourself to a new perfume. You got dressed and head out. It was walking distance, thankfully. You loved the little town a couple blocks away. When you arrived to the town square, you took your time strolling through various boutiques and a bookstore. You saw a new coffee shop had opened up in the corner. It was an old Victorian looking building, but the interior was updated in a fun artistic design consisting of black, white and pink, as well as lush greenery and a pink neon sign logo. It said "Café Gnossiene". There was ambient jazz music playing and the smell of coffee added to the cozy vibe. After you got your cappuccino, you sat at a corner table too browse the book you just bought.
As you tried to squeeze between the tables to sit at the banquette against the wall, your bag brushed against someone's shoulder who was seated at the adjacent table. Once you were seated, you turned to apologize and noticed him smiling and saying it's ok. You blushed and then you smiled back. He was friendly and you eventually went through brief introductions. He was alone too, enjoying a latté and typing something on his laptop at the time. You sensed a familiarity about him, but you couldn't figure it out. He asked about your book. It was a classic sci-fi novel you've been meaning to read. There was a movie coming out about it and you wanted to read it before watching the film. You explained that you felt the story deeper that way. He smiled and said that's interesting. He then mentioned that he's actually an aspiring screenwriter. You were intrigued and you eventually learned that he likes to write sci-fi romance and is done with his script, but he's now in the process of editing before he sends the final version to a producer he knows. You wished him luck.He blushed as he thanked you and then started to mention that he also has a blog of short stories but then hesitated. You asked him to go on. He didn't want to "bombard you with all my stuff". He was relieved when you assured him that you were interested and happy to read them. He cracked a smile just as the afternoon sunlight came through the windows and washed part of his face--that's when it struck you, that you saw him in your dream! You swore in your mind that he's an exact match to your dream vision of him. You gasped for a moment, but he didn't notice, thankfully. You were in shock, wondering what are the odds. Just then you saw the clock on your phone said 2:22. You got chills. In that moment, he was unaware of your revelations in your mind. He asked you if you had any plans for the rest of the day. When you heard him ask you that, you felt like this could be some form of serendipity. You thought about your schedule for a moment, then said that you're free. He smiled and said "great"! Before you realized it, several hours had passed and it was dusk. You two had walked around town together, talking and getting to know each other. The whole thing felt effortless.
That's when you felt confirmation that the universe brought you two together. When he learned the details from your dream, his eyes widened and he said, "wow". He was amazed by the odds of that happening at all. He hugged you and eventually you started kissing while standing at the center of the labyrinth. A gentle breeze made his hair dance. He looked into your eyes and asked you something.
You smiled when you realized what it was. He asked if he could write his next script inspired by your dream. You got excited about that idea and didn't hesitate to allow him to do that. -- 5 years later, his first script was nominated for an Oscar and his 2nd script, the one about your dream was in the middle of production. You were living together in a cool urban loft with an awesome view of the city, and your decorating abilities turned the large industrial space into a cozy space with eclectic gallery vibes. A few months later, during a New Year's Eve party, he asked you if you'd like to share all the rest of your years together. You know what? You said YES! 🤍
