Where We Left Off

He patiently waited for you in the lobby of your building. You lived in a luxury highrise apartment in the heart of the city. He had texted you his plans the night before. You came downstairs because you couldn't believe it. The last time you were together was when you bumped into him in Barcelona while you were there to study and photograph the architecture of Antoni Gaudí. It happened at the Sagrada Familia cathedral one day. You were backing up to get a wide shot of the nave, and you inadvertently bumped into him as he was standing facing the other direction.
You got to talking, after laughing it off, and you found out that he lives in NY. You spent several days together sightseeing, and when you left, you thought that was probably the last time you'd see each other. A month had passed, and he texted you last night that he was going to be in your city and wanted to see you. You arranged to meet the 2nd day he was in town. The elevator opened, and you saw him. You walked over to him, and when he noticed you, he stood up, and you both hugged tenderly. It was a strange feeling for you since you didn't really communicate after your trip. It turns out his email messages were all sent to your spam folder. He looked at you, smiled and said jokingly, "That's forgivable." He treated you to lunch and mentioned that he's relocating to your town. You couldn't believe it. You felt an instant connection with him because why else would he tell you his plans if he wasn't interested, you thought to yourself. You trusted your intuition and over the course of 2 months, you two were inseparable. Since you were on your home turf, you were able to spend more quality time together, learning more and more about each other, beyond what you knew since the first time you were together. You had similar interests and your lifestyles worked well together. You were both night owls and felt the most energy and creativity at night. One day you heard about this event taking place at an art gallery at 2:37 am. You thought that was an odd time for an event to start, but you were intrigued too! When you told him about it, he loved the idea. Soon enough, the night of the event was here. When you both arrived at the gallery, there were projections on the façade of the gallery building. Ground level was the gallery and the rest of the building above it was a highrise brick and decoratively embellished building. It was converted into condos at some point. The projections were abstract and colorful the movement of the lights were in sync with some melodic downtempo music. Everyone attending calmly made their way inside the gallery in an orderly progression. It was as if the music was guiding them in a calming frequency. You held hands and fingers intertwined as you both crossed the threshold simultaneously. Instantly you were in a dark room. The doors closed behind you, and shortly after, a blue light illuminated the room. It created gradients from dark to light tones of blue in constant movement. You were experiencing this with two other couples in there. It then went dark, and then specks of stars began illuminating the walls. The brightness of the projected starfield and galaxies created a dim light. You looked into his eyes and you noticed a tiny galaxy reflected on each pupil of his. He saw the same in yours. Gradually the stars and galaxies faded away as one wall began to slide open like double sliding doors. It opened to a vast space. It was like an empty warehouse, dimly lit with a grid of spotlights shining down on to mirrored cubes. It created an interesting effect reflecting the light and each other. At the end of the space was a platform with a mirrored DJ console. You saw the other attendees that entered before you and when the space filled up, the double doors shut to create an enclosed space and the DJ's music got more uplifting. The lights changed into a chromatic pulse that's in sync with the music. You both were still wondering what this event was actually about. The cubes now had projected holograms of different flowers as if they were hovering over each mirrored cube. They were slowly rotating and had a glitch effect that went with the beat of the music that was playing.
Shortly after, glasses of champagne were being offered to each of the guests. After everyone had their glasses of champagne, the music gradually got lower to an ambient chill beat in the background. A spotlight shined down to a spot in front of the DJ booth, which was more like a silhouette in this light now. A man wearing a futuristic looking dupioni silk suit with unusual shoes walked to where the spotlight was illuminating the floor. The echo of his steps were the only sound other than the ambient music, which by now had a mysterious vibe. The man welcomed everyone for coming and it turns out that he is the artist. He took some time to explain the pieces he created that were currently on display in the gallery. He stated that each cube housed the writing from children around the world from 130 years ago. He stated that they were found in a vault after a fire devastated an old building in Ellis Island. They were originally found in a napsack, the owner has never been traced. These letters had remained within the napsack until they were brought up in conversation to the artist by a friend who works at the another facility on the island. As the night progressed, the music was uplifting and the lights were creating interesting projections on the wall. At another end of the room was a wall of books. They were the bound copies of the letters mentioned in the art, along with various photographs of the exhibit, Ellis Island and any photographs that may have accompanied the letters. As the night progressed, it was discovered that the person who compiled these notes was an ancestor of the artist, He had traveled the world to find a common thread from the inhabitants of the world. Unfortunatley, when he arrived here, he dissapeared under mysterious circumstances. It was only by a weird twist of fate that this artist was able to obtain these notes, and to honor his anscestor's message and legacy, he created this exhibit and even contributed his own creativity into it. You were both intrigued. Before the event ended, you each purchased a book and had it signed by the artist. After you left, it was misty outside. It had rained all night. You made plans to have lunch together the next day. When he dropped you off at your apartment, he gave you a kiss on the cheek and smiled. You hugged and then he went on his way. The next morning, you made yourself a huge cup of coffee and thumbed through the book you purchased last night. You read a few passages from it and it delighted you. The messages were uplifting and inspiring. You eventually began to freshen up for your lunch date. After a couple hours, he texted that he was coming to meet you so you can go together. Sure enough, he was on time and you went downstairs to meet him. He stood up as you approached him and he gave you a hug.
He commented on your perfume. He said it smelled intoxicating. You chuckled. You loved his cologne too. He cracked a bashful smile when you complimented him. You took an Uber together to the coastline. There was a hotel there that had a fabulous rooftop restaurant. You took a glass elevator up to the penthouse lobby where the hostess greeted you both and walked you to your table overlooking the city and the coast. It was a sunny breezy day, partly cloudy. The cool mist of the ocean made your face have a beautiful dewey effect. He sat across from you, admiring your beauty. The breeze blew a lock of your hair on your face. He gently pushed it aside with his hand as his own hair was blowing in the breeze. He looked so cute and sweet. You both ordered bottomless mimosas and essentially had brunch together. The vibe of the restaurant was sophisticated modern, with elegant beachy elements.
There was a wall of sculptural white coral backed with mother of peaerl inlays on the wall. It was an artistic element. You both looked at the view and each other as you ate your food and talked about last night's exhibit. Both intriged by the story and the revelations. Time flew as you were both finished. He didn't let you pay and he said that he was hoping to spend the day with you. You were happy to hear hin ask that since that idea was on your mind as well! You took the elevator back down together and this time decided to stroll the boardwalk. It had a lot of beautiful upscale boutiques and art galleries. There were also many coffee shops and baked goods shops. When you noticed the crystal shop, you told him you wanted to go in. He smiled and accompanied you in there. The scent of inscense was throughout the boutique. There were so many crystals of many sizes, shapes and colors on display. They were arranged in cubbys along the wall, shelves throughout the store and large displays of sculptural pieces throughout. Mystical hang drum and frequency wave music was playing subtly in the background. You felt energized by the environnent instantly. You noticed that he was intrigued by the boutique and all the crystals.
You found a bin of bracelets and instantly gravitated to the rose quartz one. It had small round rose quartz beads and a gold lotus blossom charm. There was also a lapis lazuli bracelet that had a single clear quartz bead within it. You purchased them both along with a vial of rose essential oil. When you left the boutique, you gave him the lapis and clear quartz bracelet and you put on the rose quartz one for yourself.
You then applied the essential oil like perfume on your wrists and behind your ears. He smiled at the scent and at the gift you gave him. You dabbed a little of the essential oil on his wrist while thinking about how grateful you are about meeting him. He is a beautiful gentle soul and there was an instant connection between you both. He thanked you for the gift, and you said you just felt like it was just a little something you thought he would like. Truth is, the crystals you chose were not random. You felt as if you gravitated to them, like a magnet. They basically called out to you within the vibrational frequency they emitted. They resonated with you at that moment, and you felt it in regards to him as well. That's the thing about crystals and their energy. You don't choose them. They choose you! As you both continued strolling the boardwalk, browsing shops and galleries, it was almost sunset. Time flew when you were together. As you stopped at a bar counter, you each ordered a drink to watch the sunset on the water. It was a Spanish themed bar that also served tapas. You decided to have a few small plates while you both sat there. As the sun went down, the sky changed from gold to lavender until it was ceruleun blue. Few stars began to appear like diamonds. He put his hand on yours as the cool breeze made his hair dance. His eyes were speaking to you. You felt their message as you looked back at him, his skin reflecting the lavender and gold glow.
You decided that you wanted to cook dinner for him tonight. This stop held you both over until you made your way to the market to buy ingredients for dinner. Luckily there was an artisan market that had everything you needed. You took an Uber back to your apartment together. This time he came up with you. His eyes widened as he entered your apartment. It was eclectic and sophisticated with art, books and interesting furniture. You thanked him as he complimented your style.
You offered him a glass of wine. You then decided to play some music while you prepared everything. He offered to help. You smiled and gave him a few simple tasks. You really didn't need help, but you knew he wanted to do something for you, if anything, to be useful in the kitchen so he could spend time with you while you cooked. Another cute aspect of him that made you smile as you sauteed the vegtetables. The house started smelling so good, he acknowledged. You eventually plated everything and he helped you bring it all to the dining room. It was overlooking the city. Over dinner, you got to know each other even more. The conversation was deep and went beyond dinner. It continued as he helped you clear everything up, and you eventually made your way to the living room, with your wine and a box of chocolates you bought for dessert. The music was getting more and more interesting as the night progressed. There was something about this night. The wine was good, and lifting both of your spirits even more. As you took a bite of a chocolate truffle, you were amazed at how good it tasted and it paired well with the wine. By now the moonlight of the full moon was shining into your living room creating a pale light strip shining on the coffee table in front of you in the direction where he was sitting. By this time, you were both sitting very close to each other. You had both said all that you could say in a day together. This time, his eyes were focused on you. His bracelet glowed in the moonlight, as did yours. You leaned back to admire the moonlight and he leaned back to admire you. You felt goosebumps as the music and atmosphere of your apartment seemed mystical with him next to you. You turned to look at him, his hand on your hand. The next thing you knew, you were in the midst of the most beautiful kiss you ever felt. It wasn't like any other kiss you ever experienced. This was magical. It was as if thousands of lifetimes culminated to this very moment. It was as if the ancient stars formed and went supernova in order to create the elements that came together to form your existence along with his. You were destined to meet. After a while, when you both pulled away in euphoria, you noticed the book from the art event on your coffee table. As you leaned in on him while you both cuddled on the sofa, you decided to read a random page from it. When you opened the book, you were amazed to see a postcard from Barcelona. It had an image of a partially built Sagrada Familia in a sepia print image. The back of the postcard had a poem by Pablo Neruda. It was handwritten with quotation marks. It read: "But if each day, each hour you feel that you are destined for me with implacable sweetness, if each day a flower climbs up to your lips to seek me, ah my love, ah my own, in me all that fire is repeated, in me nothing is extinguished or forgotten, my love feeds in your love, beloved and as long as I live, it will be in your arms, without leaving mine." As you read him that poem in a soft voice, his arm was around you and his hand was caressing your arm. He was looking ahead at the view, the moonlight shone across his eyes this time. He stayed with you that night. It was your first full night together, and it was the beginning of a very long life together. After he moved and finalized his living arrangments in your city, shortly after you moved in together and remained together ever since. Your relationship uplifted you both. He inspired you to pursue your dreams and you inspired him to trust himself more and gained much success in his career, thanks to your ability to make him feel unburdened and inspired more than before. Call it fate or destiny, your souls were bound to meet. The thing you never realized until a prophetic dream revealed, that you were always meant to be with each other. Your earthly existence was a continuation of your ethereal existence together. Eternally bound by love energy. ◇
