Bali Nights
He surprised you with a trip to Bali. He knew that you had been overwhelmed lately and had no motivation to write for a while. He also had some time off and needed a break. Work was really crazy this time. He had to travel a lot, barely sleep, and had full days of back to back interviews. Now, he had some free time before he has to work again in a few months. He wanted to spend one month of it alone with you in a secluded tropical hideaway. The house he rented was referred to him by a friend. It's very private and has its own dedicated driver to pick you up from the airport. You arrived on a sunny afternoon. You both had slept throughout the flight, so you were somewhat well rested. On the rideup to the house, you admired all the beauty surrounding you. When you finally arrived at the villa, you were both amazed. He said the pictures didn't do it justice. After the driver left, you had the place to yourselves. You explored all the levels together and took a few moments to hold each other while admiring the view. Before you knew it, it was sunset. The personal chef prepared your dinner and eventually left for the evening. You had some ambient music on, and a gentle breeze was blowing in from the open windows. He held your hand and squeezed it as he looked into your eyes. He said that he wanted to thank you for being there for him. Having a job where you're famous is fun, but it can feel lonely at times, and that he appreciated all that you did for him. The way you comforted him, the way you listened to him talk about his day. He also observed how you didn't have the energy to write. No matter how much you tried, you had no motivation. You both had a lot going on that didn't let you connect for a while. Now you had a few weeks together, alone, in a private paradise just for two. You poured each other a glass of Bordeaux and went to go sit on the terrace to look at the ocean. The scent of the salty air, along with the floral scent of the flowering trees, was enigmatic. You could hear the gentle waves of the water lapping against the rocks surrounding your villa. You talked about life while gazing at the sky, counting stars, and finding constellations. You both turned to face each-other, even though you were on separate chaise lounges. The light from the lanterns were reflected in his eyes. He smiled at you and you both lay there in silence for a while. The wine had given you both a relaxing feeling. Time seemed to stand still. He blinked and it was as if he telepathically asked you to stand up, because that was what you felt like doing all of the sudden. He stood up too and walked over to you. You were both silent. He put his arms around you and you felt his heart beating. You looked up at his eyes and he was looking down at you. You thought in your head "kiss me", and sure enough, it was as if he heard you because he leaned in and kissed you. The full moon cast a pale blue glow which illuminated the surrounding rocks in a mysterious glow. You both felt relaxed and decided to go upstairs. The bedroom had a wall of windows that was fully opened to integrate the terrace to the interior in one seamless view, just like the downstairs area. The only light were from lanterns and the moonlight. That night, you didn't sleep much. You took advantage of your time together and the subtle energy from the moon. Even though it was not your first time together something was definitely different tonight. Maybe it was the time difference or the tranquility that surrounded you, it gave you both a renewed burst of energy that confirmed your unbreakable bond. The next morning, the floral sent was intoxicating and you felt like you were in a dream, but you were not in a dream. You were awake and in this beautiful place with him. You lay in bed together all morning as he held you. You loved the way his arms felt around your body. Gentle strength that felt divine. You shared sentiments of love as you watched the sun rise. The colors were like paintings on a canvas. Golds, orange, magenta and cool turquoise blue of the water below. The clouds were large and puffy. They looked as if a thunderstorm was brewing in the distance. Eventually you made your way downstairs and had an amazing breakfast which had been prepared for you. Afterwards you had your coffee on the terrace to talk. Sure enough, by the afternoon it began to rain. It was a warm rain. The sound of rolling thunder in the distance was the soundtrack to your day and evening. It was your favorite mood. The rain made it dark and moody. You were inseparable since this was both of your favorite weather. The scent of the rain was intoxicating and you felt inspired to write something. You wrote a short story and read it to him. He enjoyed hearing your words and told you that he was proud of you finally pursuing your dreams. He knew this trip would cause a spark of creativity for you. It made him happy to think about that, and you noticed his gaze as he sat there listening to you read. You felt chills of happiness. He is so kind and amazing. You felt so lucky that you found each other. For the duration of the trip, you spent it lounging together no schedules to maintain, just time to be together, to do whatever you want, whenever you want. Before you both realized it, it was your last night. Your flight was the next morning. You both decided you didn't want to sleep so you could both enjoy the villa one last time before you leave. You decided to go for a night swim. The stars in the crystal clear sky were like diamonds. The water was warm and it had a waterfall edge where you can look out to the ocean and the jungle beyond. It was a memorable night. The next morning you were on your way back to the airport. When you both sat in your seats on the plane, you both eventually dozed off after take-off. Your hands intertwined. When you arrived home, for the next couple of months, you had a burst of inspiration and wrote several short stories and he was preparing for his next roll. You both had a renewed sense and inspiration and decided that having a trip like this every so often was the best medicine. Both of your creativity rejuvenated. This was the first of many trips you will take together. Each time a place more romantic than the last, although anywhere you two were together, it was romantic. ♡
