Unexpected Encounter
You had finally located your friend since she wandered off at some point in the night. When you saw her sitting on one of the lounge chairs talking to some guy, you thought you'd give her some space and decided to go to the outdoor rooftop patio to get some air. As you were looking out at the city lights sipping your drink, you started to feel cold. You turned to go sit by the large fireplace at the center of the patio. Shortly after, he came and sat on the sofa across from you. The group that was sitting there before you came got up and went back inside. That's when he looked towards you and smiled. You smiled back as you nursed your drink. He gradually got up and walked closer to you and asked if he could sit by you. You looked up at him, mesmerized by his glistening green eyes. You replied, "Sure." He smiled and sat down. Just then, the DJ started playing your favorite song. You began to vibe to the beat. After a little while, he turned to you and asked you how you're doing. You told him what happened and that you decided to come and get some air. He nodded and said something similar happened to him, too, and that his friends eventually left, but he remained for you, although he didn't mention that part to you. You sympathized with him and told him that it looks like the same thing will happen to you tonight. He smiled again, as did you. He eventually told you his name, and you told him yours. Before you knew it, a lot of time passed as you were both out on the rooftop, and you began to feel cold again. He sensed that and asked you if you'd like to join him inside. You nodded, and you both got up in unison. The melodic beats felt more intense inside. You also felt warmer now. You couldn't find your friend, so you decided to text her. When you looked at your phone, you saw that you already got a text from her saying that she left with the guy. You then sighed, but you weren't surprised. She's done that before. He looked at you and also sympathized with you. You decided to hang out together for the rest of the night. You had a lot of fun together dancing and drinking.
You thought it was cute. You both went in. It was crowded, so you sat together at the benches near the novelty vending machines to wait for a table to open up. He had a few quarters, so he got something from them and gave you one too. You opened the little acorn-looking capsule, and there was a charm bracelet in it. The charm was a happy face. You both laughed as you put it on your wrist. His was a charm bracelet, too. It was a crown charm. He looked at you with a smirk as he put it on his wrist. Shortly after, 2 seats at the counter opened up. After you both got seated, you each ordered a coffee and a bowl of fries to share. You asked for a side of ranch and mustard. You were good with that, but he got himself a club-sandwich too. As you both had your meal, you talked about different things and found that you had a lot in common. You both also seemed to naturally resonate with each other. He wanted to see you again so he mentioned a possible museum date for next Saturday. You loved that idea and accepted. After the diner, you both walked to the parking lot. The attendant who had your keys went and brought your cars. Before parting ways, you exchanged numbers and hugged. You got a whiff of his cologne, and it felt euphoric. You couldn't wait for your date next week.
As you drove home, you listened to
your playlist and thought about him.
For once, you were grateful that your
friend ditched you. That night in bed,
you dreamt about him. The next day,
he texted you a happy face emoji next
to a king crown emoji and wrote "good
morning." You replied "lol" and said
"good morning" back to him. You eventually had a great week.
The day of your date finally arrived. He texted you saying he was outside. You looked down from your balcony of your apartment, and saw him on the sidewalk waving up at you.
You were ready, but you glanced at the mirror, sprayed your perfume, grabbed your purse, and went downstairs to meet him. You lived along a canal, so you walked on the path near the water until you got to the street where his car was parked. You got in and drove to the museum. It was in the city where all the high rises were. There was an exhibit of modern architecture.
The featured architects were Le Corbusier, Mies Van de Rohe, and Louis Kahn.
You were excited because the last time you saw stuff about them was in college, where you studied design. It felt like serendipity since he suggested it. As he drove, it started drizzling, so thankfully, the parking was under the museum building. You spent a couple of hours admiring the building models, artwork, and other things displayed. You mentioned that you studied these architects in college and his eyes lit up with interest. He said he admired modern minimalist architecture that had vibes of nature and industrial elements. Later, you had coffee and pastries in the covered courtyard. There, you explained how much you liked the Bauhaus aesthetics and how timeless they were.
He told you that he has a t-shirt at home for a band with the same name. You chuckled and mentioned thst you actually heard of them! Before you left the museum, you purchased some books from the gift shop. He didn't want the day to end, so he asked if you wanted to just drive around. You didn't want it to end either, so you said, "sure". You drove away from the city. He put on his playlist, and it was euphoric. You then thought you'd introduce him to some Persian modern music. He was amazed and wanted to know more about your culture, so you told him about it. He was amazed since he had never heard about this information. You told him that they don't teach these things in school here, let alone talk about it. You got a little emotional considering the current information. He parked the car in a scenic area that overlooked a canyon. The rain was heavy at this point, and you even heard some thunder. You told him that you didn't want to burden him w/this information, but he put his hand on your shoulder and said not to worry. His eyes showed concern and interest. You continued, and at some point, he was compelled to hug you. You decided to head back to your apartment. You had a chance to get to know each other better in a comfortable and cozy environment.
You made tea and ordered food. It
felt like you had known each other
since many lifetimes. You couldn't
really explain it. You wanted to tell
him something about that until you
saw him take notice of the art you
had displayed on your wall. You had
painted the ancient aesthetics of
your heritage.
He was intrigued. You told him that you often gravitated to ancient elements since they had a sense of purity. You were proud of your culture, and even though you didn't
want to dominate the conversation
about it, he kept asking you about it,
so you told him. You were impressed
that he was so interested. You
had never encountered this kind of
situation before. After some hours
passed, you couldn't help but feel so
happy that you met him. You jokingly thought about sending your friend a little "thank you" gift, since if it wasn't for her chaotic energy, you would likely not have met him. After he went home that night, you missed him as soon as he left. He just felt so familiar to you. He texted you when
he was home and asked if you're free
next weekend. You said you were. You
had constant communication all week until it was the day to meet up again. He took you to a chateau outside of the city.
There, you had a tour of the winery,
had an elegant dinner, and bought a
few bottles of their wines to take
home.
Since the drive was long, you
both got to know each other better via
conversation. You were pretty much
inseparable for several months since
that night you met at the club. When
your birthday came around, he planned
a special weekend for you. He booked
a house designed by Frank Lloyd
Wright for you to stay in together for
a few nights. It was Falling Water. You
were surprised when he mentioned
that. You never knew you could stay
there.
When the time of the trip came, you
were having some drinks at the airport
bar as you waited for your flight to
Pennsylvania.
It would be the most memorable trip. You couldn't believe how you had both connected so much. You were so in love, and it showed. When you were intimate, it was as if you were only meant for each other. Your connection went far beyond conversations. It's as if you were meant to find each-other in every lifetime. You often had moments of serendipity. After 2 years, he asked you to be his for eternity. He asked you on a rainy day. You said yes. An elderly couple passing by took your photo together after he asked them to. When you looked at the photo, you were shocked at the confirmation from the universe. That confirmation came in the form of symbolism. You hadn't noticed it at the time, but there was a billboard in the distance, visible in the photo. It was a happy face wearing a crown, advertising some random thing. You had saved that charm bracelet you got many years ago the first night you met, and on your wedding day, you each wore yours as a private message to each-other that you were meant for each other. They were your most valuable possession other than the love you have for each-other. ♡♡
