Soaring among the Clouds
He's traveled the world many times with his airship. He swings by your town every few weeks to replenish his supplies. You're the shopkeep that helps him every time. Whenever he comes into your shop, he breezes in with a cool and collected vibe. You often laugh over cheery banter. This time, he walked in and walked straight to you, standing at the counter. He had a small box in his hand, which he gently placed on the counter in front of you. It was red velvet with an antique gold fringe along the edge of the lid. He smiled and glanced down at it, and then back at you, clearing his throat for the purpose of trying to tell you to open it without telling you to open it. You smiled and picked up the box. When you opened it, your eyes lit up. It was a golden brooch in the shape of a scarab. You were amazed. You had never seen anything like that before. He offered to put it on your blouse. You let him. As he was putting it on you, he continued, "There's something else. How would you like to join me on my next journey. I can take you to the land where I got you this. You will be amazed! They have man-made mountains there, with their points sharp and a large statue of a lion with a man's head! I heard there are tunnels under that lion-man. Would you like to explore them with me?" You were in shock. You never thought he would ask you to join him in his travels to exotic places, although you always wished he would. Now your wish came true! You accepted his offer. It was perfect timing, too, since you were exhausted from maintaining the shop. You arranged to have your sisters run it until you return. He was overjoyed when you accepted. He explained all the details, and you arranged a departure date, where he will come back to the shop and escort you to his airship. When that day arrived, you were ready with your trunk of supplies and necessities beside you. He rolled up on an unusual 3-wheeled vehicle that was bronze with golden rivets. There were some sturdy leather straps on the back that could hold the trunk. He placed it there after he opened the door for you to enter. You fastened your seatbelt just as he got in the driver's seat. He glanced at you and asked, "Are you ready?" You responded with a smile and said, "Ready as I'll ever be!" He grinned and pressed the gas pedal. With a jolt, you were on your way. Excitement was building up in your mind as you approached the scarce airfield. His ship was the only one parked there. It was an unusual shape. It had so many rivets, gears, and gizmos. It looked so complicated to operate. He rolled his vehicle into the cargo hold and helped you out of it. He then pulled on some cords and chains to close the cargo door. You followed him around the ship as he gave you a quick tour. The last place he showed you was a door. He opened it and ushered you in. This is where you can sleep. You looked around. It was surprisingly roomy and cozy. He then said, "I'll let you unwind and get comfortable. Come out whenever you please. I'll be in the control room. We will be departing in an hour." He then smiled and nodded as he closed the door. You then decided to change out of your dress and wear your trousers. You figured it would be more comfortable. You eventually came out of your room and went to the control room. There were two leather wing back chairs in front of a large bookshelf that had a rolling ladder. There was a globe that was marked with various coordinates on it, and finally, there was the control panel with a mixture of buttons, dials, levers, wheels, and many other unusual controls. He saw your confused expression and said, "Look here, this button is important!" He then pushed it, and a small door under it opened, and a tray of tea with some cookies came out. The tray then turned into a rolling cart. He set it between the chairs and sat down. He offered you a cup before taking his own. You both sat there, and he explained the itinerary to you over tea. Eventually, it was time to depart, and with a loud hum and random clunky noises, you were airborne. You were amazed as you peaked over the edge. The wind was blowing in your hair. The town got smaller and smaller until the clouds diminished the view. He was busy maneuvering the controls. When you were at the desired altitude, he flipped a switch, turned a knob and pulled down a lever. By this time, the ship was flying smoothly. You noticed several rows of "wings" had extended out and were gently flapping alternatively. He said that unless there's a weather anomaly, the ship can fly on its own until they are near landing. You were happy about that because that way you two can spend time getting to know each other. And that's what you did. You spent most of the day talking, laughing, and sometimes listening to the gramophone. It was getting late and you were tired. He noticed you yawn. He asked if you wanted to sleep. You nodded as you smiled. You don't remember being this tired before. He mentioned, "Don't worry, you should rest. The thinner air up here makes you tired, that's why I am never without tea! But before you go, I want to show you something." He then gently took your hand and guided you to the back of the airship, where there was a little balcony. He asked you to look, and when you did, you knew why he wanted you to see it. It was a crescent moon that seemed so close that you could almost touch it. Surrounded by the moon was an endless field of stars. The clouds below reflected the moon's glow. You looked back at him, and he was looking at you. You thanked him for showing you such a beautiful sight. You hugged him, and he hugged you back. Unknown to you, he closed his eyes as he held you. You then pulled away and said goodnight. He looked into your eyes and said goodnight in a soft voice. You then both gradually walked back in from the balcony. You walked down the hall that led to the control deck. Before reaching there, the door to your sleeping quarters came up. You went in, and you both said goodnight to each other before you closed the door. The next morning, you woke up, put on your clothes for the day, and went to meet him at the control deck. When you got there, he was not there, but there was a note on the table. It read, "Meet me in the dining room." You were astonished because you didn't expect there to be a dining room. You must've overlooked it during the initial tour. You followed his direction, and eventually, you arrived at the dining room. There were portals on each side of the walls so you can see the view. He got up when you arrived and pulled out a chair for you. You thanked him, and once you were seated, he sat back down, too. There were so many tasty foods, from, toast, to pancakes. There were fruits, butter, and jam. You wondered how he managed to make such a wonderful breakfast, then you remembered that he does this often. The day progressed, and you two bonded throughout the day. The same thing the next day. Eventually, you arrived at your destination. He parked his ship near the area of the sphinx. You were amazed. You couldn't get enough of the visual splendor of where you were as the ship made its descent. When you came out of the ship, you were amazed about the sand. You had never really walked on it before. Eventually, you both managed to find an entry point on the sphinx, and sure enough, there was a tunnel with a staircase leading into the darkness below. He grabbed a torch and lit it. You both decided to explore the depths. He explained during your descent that there was supposed to be some sort of divine hall of records. His voice echoing within the cavernous space. Sure enough, these types of things are fascinating to you. Eventually, you arrive at a double door. It was large and metallic, possibly iron. It had unusual glyphs on it. He believed they were alchemical symbols. You're about to open it and.....(You wake up from your dream. You're angry because you accidentally set the alarm on a Saturday! You shut it off and rolled back to sleep, hoping you could continue your dream.) Eventually, you do fall back asleep. You begin to drift back to the dreamstate, and eventually, you're back with him again on that airship. Unfortunately, you weren't able to discover what could've been behind those doors under the Sphinx. Hopefully, you'll get some answers soon. You were on your way to view the other structures there. He finally landed on top of the Great Pyramid. The top was flat, even though they looked pointy from a distance. From that vantage point, you had a spectacular view of the surrounding area. It felt surreal. As you were perched on the top of the pyramid, you were watching the sunset. A cool breeze made his soft curls dance. You glanced at him, and he looked down. You then scooted a little closer to him. He smiled while still looking down. You sensed that he was being quiet. You wondered why. In the meantime, his mind was racing. He wanted to tell you that he had loved you from the first moment he saw you but hadn't had the courage to say anything. He built up the courage to ask you to join him in hopes that he could confess his love to you, but he still hasn't been able to. He enjoyed your company, and he didn't want to risk losing the friendship in case you didn't feel the same way. You were oblivious to his thoughts. However, you felt the need to brush his soft waves from his eyes. He looked up at you, and you were both gazing into each other's eyes in silence. His goggles on his head caught the final light sparkle of the sun as it went below the horizon. You felt a deeper connection, and in that moment, he leaned in closer to you. Euphoria overcame you as you saw him in a new light. You couldn't explain it, but you really wanted to kiss him. A moment later, he did. It was as if he read your mind. He leaned in gently, and he kissed you as he held your hand, gently caressing it with his fingers. The moment felt magical, and by now, it was dusk, and the first few stars started peaking through the sky. As you both slowly pulled away, he had a happy expression on his face, as did you. He then asked if you're ready to take flight. You said, "Sure, where to next?" He smiled and said, "Let's follow the sun!". You got chills of excitement as you both made your way back into the ship. Shortly after, you were airborne again. From this moment on, you were inseparable. You traveled the world together. Just as you were thinking about it, you were awoken again. This time by your cat. You lay in bed looking at your dear sweet cat, he was nudging you to get up by pushing his head on you. You eventually got up to feed him. You noticed you only had a few cans of catfood left. You decided to go shopping for more. After you fed the cat, you went to change so you could head to the store. As you walked through the door, you accidentally bumped into someone. You felt embarrassed because you were glancing at your phone for the list at the time. You both said, "Excuse me," simultaneously, as you looked up. Just then, you saw those familiar green eyes and light brown curls. You had a moment of dejavu. He grinned as if he had just had the same feeling of dejavu. He asked if he knew you from somewhere. You also wondered the same. Little did you both realize that you both had the same vivid dream, each from your own perspective. Now, you are both magnetic in real life. Out of the blue, he offered to buy you coffee, and you accepted out of the blue. That morning was the beginning of your life together. Eventually, you told him about your dream, and that's the day he told you that he knew this was no accident. The universe brought you together, and you were happy in love. Inseparable ever since. Trust the universe. You never know how your dreams will come true! ✨️
