Serendipity with Cocktails

You were visiting your best friend in New York. She was having an engagement party, and you helped her with some final details leading up to the event. Finally, it was the night of the party. It was taking place at The Carlyle Hotel. You were excited to be there because it was one of the famous NY landmarks you heard about. Everything was beautiful and elegant as you imagined. You were there without a date, which was perfectly fine since you were single anyway. You were there for your friend. You also were hoping that you might have a chance encounter, which sounded exciting. You were thinking about this as you were heading back to the party as you walked through the lobby and past the entry to the iconic Bemelman's Bar. You caught his glance. You turned, and to your amazement, you saw him sitting on the velvet couch nearby. It felt like serendipity. He stood up and introduced himself. "HI, I'm Timothée. Are you attending Melissa's engagement party? I'm her fiancé's cousin." You smiled and were taken aback from how forward he was. It was refreshing. He didn't seem like the shy type. You introduced yourself as well and responded that you have been friends since high school and were like sisters since you both didn't have any in real life. He smiled back and mentioned that he was contemplating going to Bemelman's after the party ended, and wanted to know if you would like to join him. You were hoping to get to know him more, so when he asked you, you tried to contain all the excitement that was in your head, and you responded with a calm, "Sure, I'd like that". You both walked back to the party, and you both smiled at each other as you parted ways, knowing that you have an impromptu date very soon tonight. You walked straight to Melissa to tell her what just happened. Her eyes lit up and said, "Omg! I've been wanting to introduce him to you tonight, but I didn't have the chance! I want to hear everything over brunch tomorrow!" You were feeling on cloud 9 because it felt as if the universe was opening a door for you! The party was winding down. You were sitting next to Melissa, and she winked at you as she noticed Timothée walking towards you. He thanked Melissa for everything, and he smiled at you. You looked at her, and she smiled in approval as you hugged her, too. You whispered goodnight to her and that you'll definitely tell her everything tomorrow. Shortly after, you and Timothée walked into the iconic bar. There was a bistro table available near the bar with the great view of the piano. The melody was ambient and calming, a perfect vibe to wind down from a night of partying. He looked so beautiful in the dim light, you thought to yourself. He asked you what you'd like to drink. You mentioned "Dirty Martini." It was your favorite. When the waiter came, he ordered that for you and a Whiskey Neat for himself. You spent the rest of the evening getting to know each other and found that you have a lot in common and that he was really funny, despite how elegant he looked that night. Before you knew it, the bar was about to close. You didn't know where the time went! It was pretty late, and you didn't want the night to end because he was so magnetic, but you didn't want to go overboard on the "first date". You mentioned that it was getting late and that you enjoyed tonight, but you had to get up early to get ready for brunch. He smiled and said, he understands and was hoping he could see you again while you're in town. You told him that you're here for the week. He smiled and asked if you're free during that time. You actually were since you had originally planned to walk around the city, go shopping and visit The Met yourself. He offered to do those with you if you wanted. You said, "Sure! I'd love that!". You exchanged numbers and then he gave you a hug in front of the elevator. After you got to your room, you fell on the bed with the biggest smile. Your week just got more exciting than you would've imagined!
